Wanted to share my experience of fighting my COVID Illness. Hope it inspires and conveys usefulness of doing Kriyas.
I have been doing regularly Shambhavi, Shoonya, Shakthi chalana Kriya daily since last 2 years. I also do Surya kriya during weekdays and Yogasana during weekends since last 2 years. Apart from that I do Samyama Practice around 30minutes morning and 30minutes evening since a year.
I am strict vegetarian and follow pranic food as much as possible. I work as Respiratory Physician in Luton-London, UK since 18 months.
As COVID outbreak occurred in the UK from the middle of the February, I was deployed with 3 of my colleagues (relatively young and energetic) to work as a frontline COVID Respiratory Physician. We worked enthusiastically and as effectively as possible and took care of COVID patients.
Unfortunately, 3 of us developed COVID infection. One of our colleague is still recovering, other one recovered in 3 weeks but I could recover only in 3 days, hopefully because of his grace and my practices.
I had developed general body ache, hot and cold feeling, decreased taste and dehydration. I had gone to our hospital ward for my COVID swab testing and I did collapse and lost consciousness for a minute mostly due to dehydration and postural hypotension.
My clinical director wanted me to get admitted and to do CT chest and extensive investigations, but I was feeling fine and asked him to allow me to go home, as per my request he allowed me to rest at home and monitor through phone daily 3-4 times.
I never developed any cough, shortness of breath, very high fever or low oxygen saturations. I did lose around 4 kg weight and my muscle strength did decrease but respiratory wise I was fit throughout my illness duration.
I continued to do most of my practices though I could not do yogasana, surya kriya and Nadi vibhajan effectively mainly because of my weakness.
On the other hand, two of my colleagues who were also proved COVID cases were very ill. Both of them had significant respiratory symptoms and one of them joined back to work after 3 weeks of illness and another colleague still has significant cough and some breathing difficulty and he is still resting.
What I felt was, my kriya practices and my food habits had enormous effect on my health especially on my breathing and to some extent on my immunity. By his grace I was lucky to have very mild disease and fast recovery without much complications.
As a respiratory physician I have seen and still seeing many patients dying in front of me every day and many patients struggling very hard to recover.
In this type of situation, if our brothers and sisters spends some time on doing kriyas or practices, that will have long lasting effects on your health and fitness apart from a main benefit.
Thank you and Namaskar.
